    Manual Gradebook Grading

How to manually enter grades into the gradebook

    Warning

Grading should be done in the Open Grader or in the activity, when possible. Only enter grades in the gradebook if you need to override a grade or there is no other way to grade an activity.

    Step 1

    Go to Course Dashboard

    Step 2

    Go to Gradebook

    Step 3

You will need to turn the editing to make any changes

Find the student and activity you want to grade. Type grades in the empty cells using point values and percentages. Press Enter or click in another cell to save the grade.

    Using Single View

You can also choose to grade using the single view for a particular student or assignment. From the drop-down menu on the top left corner, select the option “single view”.

Here you will be able to select if you want to grade an item or a user

For example, when selecting a user, you will see their name on top of the screen and will be able to enter grades and feedback manually. Make sure to save your changes when you’re finished by clicking Save or pressing Enter.

    Info

If you enter grades manually, they may still be overridden by activities. For example, if you enter a quiz grade and the student re-attempts the quiz, the new quiz grade will appear.

By default, you can override grades in the Gradebook.

You can choose to lock a grade item in the Gradebook. When a grade item is locked, it can't be updated automatically by the related activity. Please refer to the following article for more details: Gradebook Setup
