    Comp Exams - Setup Steps

    June 4th, 2025

This article will guide you through the different steps to properly setup comp courses and their respective exams.

    Step 1: Importing Comp Questions

To import comps questions, three high-level steps must be followed:

    1. The first step to adding new questions to the comps exams for the current term is to create the question bank categories for each test at the term category level (e.g., 2025S).
    2. Next, import the questions into the categories.
    3. Finally, add questions to the quiz, but we will do that after importing the shells.

    Create the Question Bank Categories

    Delete

    Warning

Only add questions to the question bank one time per question set. Once they are added at the category level, they can be added to the quiz activity.

    Step 1

Go to the Comps Committee Team and download each comps test
    Documents > General > The Comps Exams > Written Exams > {Year}

    Step 2

Go to one of the comps course shells (e.g., ACUCMP1.01.2025S.CH)

    Step 3

Go to Admin Drawer > Course Administration > Question Bank > Categories

    Step 4

Under Question categories for Category: <Term>, check Default for <Term> to see if the question category you are adding has already been added. If it has, skip adding that category.

    Step 5

Add a new category following the same naming convention as the zip file (if it did not already exist when you checked in the previous step).
The Parent category should be Default for <Term>

    Step 6

Click Add category and repeat for the other question sets that have not been added (recheck, if necessary)
